- The Indians suffered their first loss of the season to the Guntersville
Wildcats. The Wildcats came out ready and took the early lead with a
touchdown pass on a botched field goal attempt. Lance Handrich's 21 yard
field goal early in the second quarter extended the Wildcat lead to 10-0.
On the Indians' next possession, Chad Dewitt raced 59 yards to get the
Indians on the board. Nathan Durham kicked the first of 3 PATs for the
night to close the gap to 10-7. Early in the third quarter, the Indians
took a 14-10 lead on a 1 yard run by Chad Dewitt. The big play in the
drive was a 57 yard run by Dewitt. The Wildcats responded with a 12 play
drive, with Brandon Shelton scoring from 1 yard out. Handrich's PAT gave
the Wildcats a short-lived 17-14 lead. On the next play from scrimmage,
Dewitt tossed a screen pass to Marchas Glover, who took it 80 yards and an
Indian lead of 21-17 (play). Guntersville regained the lead on their next
possession. Shelton passed to Jacob Meredith for 57 yards to give the
Wildcats a 24-21 lead with 2:28 left in the third quarter. The Indians
mounted two more serious drives inside the Wildcat 30, but were unable to
score. The Indians are now 8-1 for the season and travel to Hazel Green
next week to close out the regular season. The Indians are Region 7
Co-Champions, sharing the title with the North Jackson Chiefs. The Indians
will host the Holt Ironmen from Region 5 in the first round of the playoffs on
Friday, 12 November. |
