- Kelly Tisdale scored from 4 yards out with 2:01 remaining in the game to
break a 14-14 tie. The big play was a 3rd down pass from Chad Dewitt to
Eric McCrary that covered 73 yards. West Morgan returned the kick-off to
their own 45 and drove to the Indian 27, but the Indian defense stopped
the Rebels on downs with 38 seconds left to preserve a hard fought 21-14
victory. The Indians took the opening kickoff and drove 73 yards in 9
plays for the first score. Chad Dewitt passed to Brad Hill for 13 yards,
and Nathan Durham kicked his first of three PATs to give the Indians the
early 7-0 lead. West Morgan answered with a 10 play, 73 yard drive, with
Fredrick Gilchrist scoring from 48 yards out. The PAT was wide left, and
the Indians led 7-6. Early in the second quarter, the Indians took over at
the Rebel 49 after a punt. Tisdale ran 38 yards on the first play, and
Dewitt scored 4 plays later from 2 yards out to give the Indians a 14-6
lead. Later in the quarter, the Indians drove inside the Rebel 10, but
could not put points on the board. In the third quarter, the Rebels drove
39 yards in 7 plays, with Tommy Tucker scoring from 4 yards out. Matt
Terry ran the 2-point conversion to tie the score at 14-all. The Rebel
defense kept the Indians deep in their own territory for the next two
possessions. The Rebels had two possessions in Indian territory, but the
Indian defense answered the challenge. The Indians started the game
winning drive at their own 12 with 4:57 remaining. The 8 play drive would
be the only time the Indians crossed midfield in the second half. |
