Game 8 - Fairview at East (17 October)

East 49, Fairview 19 - The Indians kept their playoff hopes alive with a convincing win over the Fairview Aggies. The Aggies got on the board first with a 3 yard run by #00 at the end of the first quarter, but the conversion failed. Early in the second, the Indians bounced back to take the lead on Jacquez Pride's 7 yard run. Keith Southard's PAT, the first of 7 on the night, gave the Indians a brief 7-6 lead. Fairview answered with a 10 yard run by #16 to retake the lead 12-7. The Indians responded with Kelly Tisdale's 6 yard run and Southard's PAT to take the lead for good 14-12. With 2:39 left in the half, the clock stopped, and so did the hearts of everyone in the stadium. Nathan Durham suffered a helmet-to-helmet hit, resulting in a head injury. After being stabilized on the field, Nathan was Med-Flighted to Huntsville Hospital. We're happy to report that Nathan was treated and released later that night. When the game continued, the Indians added another score before halftime when Evan Whiteside passed to Southard for 4 yards. Southard's PAT gave the Indians a 21-12 lead. The Indians quickly padded the lead in the third when Whiteside hooked up with Quentin Hill on a 50 yard pass, and Southard added the PAT. Later in the third, Pride scored from 55 yards out, and Southard's PAT gave the Indians a comfortable 35-12 lead. Pride added 2 more in the fourth on a 5 yard run and a 54 yard punt return. Southard added both PATs to finish a perfect night. The Aggies added a score with 1:34 left on a 5 yard run by #32. The Indians head to Stevenson next week to play the always tough North Jackson Chiefs. The Indians and Aggies are both still alive for a playoff spot.
