Game 5 - West at East (26 September)

East 52, West 3 - The Indians used a 25 point second quarter to build a 32-0 halftime lead and went on to defeat the West Limestone Wildcats 52-3. The only first quarter points came on special teams. Jacquez Pride took advantage of some good blocking and returned a punt 86 yards. Keith Southard's PAT put the Indians ahead 7-0. Early in the second quarter, Marchas Glover picked off a Wildcat pass and returned it 15 yards for a score. After the Indian defense held, the offense got on the board when Evan Whiteside passed 25 yards to Pride. Pride also had a 36 yard run during the drive. Quentin Hill got the Indians next score on a 58 yard pass from Whiteside. The Indian defense got another turnover when Pride intercepted a pass at the East 47. Three plays later, Pride scored on a 2 yard run. The big play in the drive was Whiteside's 44 yard pass to Nathan Durham. Southard's PAT put the finishing touches on the first half scoring. During halftime, Lisa Whitehurst was crowned the 2003 Homecoming Queen. In the third quarter, Whiteside and Hill teamed up again for a 28 yard score. Kelly Tisdale's 25 yard run set up the scoring play. Southard added the PAT to extend the lead to 39-0. On the Indians next possession, Pride scored his fourth touchdown of the night from 13 yards out. The score was set up by Pride's 39 yard punt return. On the first play of the fourth quarter, the Indians last score came on Tisdale's 3 yard run. The big play in the drive was Tisdale's 55 yard run. Southard's PAT gave the Indians a 52-0 lead. The Wildcats avoided a shutout on the game's last play when Trey Stanford kicked a 38 yard field goal. It's back to region play next week when the Indians travel to West Point.
