Game 1 - East at Tanner (28 August)

East 55, Tanner 19 - In the season opener, the Indians got a convincing win, but the script was a little different than last year. Tanner took the opening kickoff and drove 74 yards. Reshard Langford scored on a 23 yard run to put the Rattlers up 6-0. On the ensuing drive, Curtis Garth intercepted a pass and returned it 30 yards to extend the Rattler lead to 12-0 with 5:59 left in the first quarter. The Indians responded with a 7 play, 70 yard drive. Kelly Tisdale scored from 31 yards out to close the gap to 12-6. Early in the second quarter, the Indians took the lead for good. The senior combo of Evan Whiteside to Quentin Hill covered 61 yards. Whiteside passed to Marchas Glover for the 2-point conversion and a 14-12 lead. After the Indian defense forced a punt, the Indian offense used a balanced attack to drive 82 yards in 12 plays. Whiteside passed to Hill from 14 yards out for the score. Senior Keith Southard's PAT gave the Indians a hard fought 21-12 halftime lead. On the second play of the second half, Jacquez Pride scored on an 83 yard run. Southard's PAT extended the lead to 28-12. After the defense held, the Indians scored quickly. Tisdale's 52 yard run and Southard's PAT gave the Indians a comfortable 35-12 lead. Late in the third quarter, Whiteside passed to Hill for a 46 yard score. Southard's PAT gave the Indians a 42-12 lead. In the fourth, the Indians scored on Pride's 64 yard punt return to extend the lead to 48-12. The Rattlers got on the board again with Langford's 25 yard run and Adams' PAT. The Indians closed out the scoring with Chad Dewitt's 8 yard run and Southard's PAT. Good luck to both teams for the rest of the season. The Indians start region play next week at Madison County.
