East 42, West Point 7 - In a rare day game at East Limestone, the defense came up big in route to a 42-7 victory over the West Point Warriors. Marquez Pride got the Indians on the board with a 6-yard run in the first quarter. Keith Southard's PAT put the Indians up 7-0. In the second quarter, it was the defense's turn to shine. With West Point deep in Indian territory, Raleigh Hill picked off a pass to halt a 60 yard drive by the Warriors. Midway through the quarter, junior Quentin Hill picked off a pass and raced 34 yards for a score. Southard's PAT pushed the lead to 14-0. Just before the half, Antwan James dazzled the crowd with a 16 yard run for the Indians' third touchdown. Southard's PAT gave the Indians a 21-0 halftime lead. In the third quarter, Raleigh Hill recovered a fumble to give the Indians the ball at the West Point 49. James went the distance on the first play, and Southard's PAT put the Indians up 28-0. On the first play of the fourth quarter, Marquez Pride scored on a 37 yard run, and Southard's PAT ran the score to 35-0. The drive was set up when senior Chris Webster recovered a fumble at the West Point 41. Quarterback Evan Whiteside scored the Indians' last touchdown on a 16 yard run. Southard's PAT gave the Indians a 42-0 lead with 4:17 left. West Point got on the board with 27 seconds left on a pass to Tony Bryant. East entertains Boaz next Friday in a big Region 7 contest. West Point hosts North Jackson.
