Game Summaries

Game 1: East 12, Decatur 5 (East/Athens Preseason Tour.)
In the first home game at East Limestone since the 2011 tornadoes destroyed their field, the Indians defeated Decatur Monday 12-5 in the East-Athens preseason tournament. Hunter Waites led the Indians at the plate with two hits for the Indians. He homered in the third inning and singled in the fifth inning. Colby Sneed drove in a couple of runs with a triple. Seth Fowler had a pair of RBIs with a double. Ben Rhodes, Mark Boersma, Caleb Newby, and Brick Pugh each hit safely. Jackson Fite had a couple of hits for Decatur. Tanner Russell got the win for the Indians on the mound striking out 6 through 7 innings. Russell allowed three earned runs on four hits and three walks over seven innings.
Game 2: East 9, West 2 (East/Athens Preseason Tour.)
The East Limestone Indians (2-0) started out slow but heated up with a five run sixth inning to defeat West Limestone 9-2 on Wednesday at East. Matthew Franks was solid on the mound for the Indians going the distance and striking out 8. Franks allowed one earned run, three hits and two walks over seven innings. Ben Rhodes led the Indians at the plate racking up two RBIs on two hits for the Indians. He doubled in the third inning and singled in the sixth inning. Brick Pugh, Cameron Ashmore, Seth Fowler, and Mark Boersma each added a hit to help ignite the Indians in the sixth inning. Steve Romero, Drake Lopez, and Drew Blakely each had a hit for West Limestone.
Game 3: East 8, Madison Academy 7 (East/Athens Preseason Tour.)
The East Limestone Indians (3-0) defeated Madison Academy 8-7 in seven innings on Saturday at East behind two clutch doubles from Caleb Newby in the second and seventh innings. After spotting the Mustangs 4 runs in the first inning, East played from behind the entire game until the bottom of the seventh inning. Bobby Foster and Ben Rhodes held the Mustangs at bay for the remainder of the game to aid the comeback. The Indians chipped away with runs in every inning but the sixth on clutch extra base hits until finally pushing the go ahead run across in the seventh inning. Andrew Gilewicz, running for Newby, scored on a wild fielder's choice rundown after an infield grounder by Hunter Waites. Mark Boersma had a pair of doubles, Ben Rhodes added a triple, and Seth Fowler legged out three infield hits to lead the Indians at the plate. Cody Littlejohn hit a home run for the Mustangs. Chad Key, Greg Lambert, Emerson Brooks, and Bo Mclaughlin each had a hit for the Mustangs. East advanced to the championship round where they will play Athens on Tuesday at 7PM.
Game 4: East 13, Athens 6 (East/Athens Preseason Tour.)
The East Limestone Indians (4-0) jumped out to an early lead on Athens and captured a 13-6 victory on a soggy field Tuesday at East in the championship game of the Athens-East Limestone preseason tournament. The Indians scored nine runs in the first three innings to build an early lead that Athens could not overcome. Ben Rhodes and Hunter Waites both had a home run and a single for the Indians. Matthew Franks and Witt Black each had a double. Cameron Ashmore and Mark Boersma rounded out the hitting with singles. After Athens scored 4 runs in the top of the second to tie the game, Boersma came in and threw 3 2/3 innings of scorelesss relief. Athens managed just one hit off of Boersma, who allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out six during his time on the mound. Jordan George finished with a double and single for the Golden Eagles.
Game 5: East 13, Athens 6 (East/Athens Preseason Tour.)
East Limestone (5-0) defeated James Clemens 5-1 on the strength of a solid pitching performance by Matthew Franks. Franks gave up 1 hit thru seven innings of work while striking out 6. He was in control through out the game never facing more than 4 batters in an inning. East gained the lead with a pair of RBI singles in the first and second innings before driving in 3 more runs in the fourth to put the game away. Mark Boersma and Seth Fowler had a pair of singles for the Indians. Cameron Ashmore, Ben Rhodes, and Brick Pugh each had a hit. Adam Brown had the only hit for the Jets with a double in the 4th inning.
Game 6: Grissom 10, East 0
East Limestone (5-1) dropped a 10-0 decision to Grissom on Saturday in the first game of a doubleheader.  The Indians' bats were as cold as the snow falling on the field with Cal Sandlin recording the Indians only hit.  Andrew Cannon, Adam Middleton, and Jesse Johnson led the hitting attack for the Tigers combining for seven hits and five RBIs.
Game 7: East 9, Fort Payne 7
East Limestone (6-1) defeated Fort Payne 9-7 in the second game of a doubleheader played at Grissom. The Indians took advantage of the frigid game conditions, played in a constant snow shower, by capitalizing on 12 walks and 5 hit batsmen with only three hits. Mark Boersma drove in two runs with a single in the first inning, while Cameron Ashmore and Hunter Waites both had an infield hit.
Game 8: East 8, West 0
The East Limestone Indians (7-1) shut out the West Limestone Wildcats 8-0 on Monday. Tanner Russell shut down the Wildcats early with four scoreless innings. Russell struck out six, walked four, and gave up two hits. Ben Rhodes closed the game out in the final three innings striking out five and giving up only one hit. The Indians scored a run in the first three innings to take the early lead, and then added three runs in the top of the seventh to put the game out of reach. Colby Sneed had a pair of hits to lead the Indians at the plate. Mark Boersma and Rhodes each added a hit.
Game 9: East 10, James Clemens 3
Mark Boersma had a career day at the plate driving in eight runs Saturday to help lift the East Limestone Indians (8-1) to a 10-3 win over James Clemens. Boersma homered in the third and sixth innings, doubled in the fourth inning, and singled in the first inning. Peyton Moran got the win allowing two runs over five innings. Moran gave up three hits while striking out two. Colby Sneed had a double and a single for the Indians. Cameron Ashmore, Ben Rhodes, Caleb Newby, Matt Franks, and Hunter Waites each had a single in the game. Scotty Adkins had double for the Jets.
Game 10: Ardmore 11, East 10
East Limestone (8-2) lost to Ardmore 11-10 in the second game of a doubleheader after falling behind early. Ardmore scored 3 runs in the first, third, and fourth innings. Cody Reed held the Indians in check pitching into the sixth inning while only giving up 2 hits. Reed struck out 9. East rallied in the sixth and seven innings with a total of 7 runs, but the rally fell short with the tying run on second base. Witt Black had a 2RBI double in the final inning to help fuel the rally. Cal Sandlin, Caleb Newby, and Hunter Waites each had a single. Cody Reed did the damage at the plate for Ardmore with a home run and a pair of hits. Austin Turner and Hayden Durrett each had a pair of hits. East plays again on Tuesday with a doubleheader at Decatur.
Game 11: Decatur 12, East 2
East Limestone (8-3) lost the first game of a doubleheader on Tuesday to Decatur 12-2. East came out and scored the first two runs on three hits in the top of the first inning, but it was all Decatur after that. Keith Layton got the win for Decatur scattering 5 hits and striking out 4 over 6 innings. Jackson Fite had a pair of doubles, William Waller had a double and a hit. Harold Blades hit a homerun. Cameron Ashmore had a double for the Indians. Ben Rhodes, Cal Sandlin, Colby Sneed, and Matthew Franks each had a hit for the Indians.
Game 12: Decatur 5, East 0
Decatur shut East Limestone (8-4) out to win the second game 5-0. Ben Rhodes had a pair of singles for the Indians. Mark Boersma had a double. William Meadows pitched 6 and 2/3 strong innings giving up 4 hits and striking out 5 for Decatur on the mound. Jackson Fite had a pair of hits for the Red Raiders. Camp Metcalf, Matthew Papich, Tanner Burns, and Trevor Givens each had a base hit in the game.
Game 13: Austin 15, East 7
Austin defeated East Limestone (8-5) on the strength of six home runs Friday afternoon. Peyton Miller hit 3 home runs. Chris Faile had a home run and two doubles. Chris Sparkman had a home run and two singles. Austin's Sparkman, Fail, Miller, and Chandler Busing combined for 11 hits and 13 RBIs. Cameron Ashmore had a 2-RBI double for the Indians. Ben Rhodes had the other Indian hit. East plays Athens and Lee at East tomorrow starting at 10AM.
Game 14: Athens 13, East 3
Athens broke open a 2-2 tie in the fourth inning with a grand slam by Lukas Brown to give the Golden Eagles the win. Adam Harvey had a pair of doubles and a single. Jordan George had a pair of doubles, and got the win on the mound for Athens striking out 3 and giving up six hits over seven innings.
Game 15: East 10, Lee 0
The East Limestone Indians Varsity jumped out to an early lead on Lee and captured a 10-0 victory on Saturday at East. East Limestone (9-6) scored eight runs in the first three innings to put the game away early against Lee. Cameron Ashmore had a double and a single to lead the Indians at the plate. Mark Boersma and Cal Sandlin each had a pair of singles. Andrew Gilewicz had an infield single. Peyton Moran got the win for the Indians. He gave up 2 hits and struck out 6 thru 4 innings of work.
Game 16: Cullman 4, East 1
Cullman defeated East Limestone 4-1 Tuesday in the opening area game for both teams. With both pitchers throwing complete games, Cullman's Jordan Guthrie outdueled East Limestone's Tanner Russell. Guthrie gave up 3 hits while striking out 11. Russell gave up 5 hits striking out 5. Keegan Thompson and Cole Collins each hit a home run for the Bearcats. Ben Rhodes had all three hits for East Limestone (9-7, 0-1).
Game 17: Cullman 12, East 0
East Limestone dropped the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader 12-0 to Cullman. Trey Forrest got the shutout win for Cullman striking out three on three hits through 5 innings of work. Keegan Thompson and Keaton Dean each had a double and a single. Zac Crocker had a pair of singles. Cameron Ashmore had a double for the Indians (9-8, 0-2), Caleb Newby and Tanner Russell each had a base hit.
Game 18: East 5, Cullman 4
East Limestone defeated Cullman 5-4 Thursday evening at Cullman to even the area series at 1-1. East Limestone's Matthew Franks threw 6 2/3 innings striking out 3 and giving up 5 hits. The Indians (10-8, 1-1) scored one run in the second inning, two in the fourth, and two in the sixth. The Bearcats rallied for two in the bottom of the seventh before Ben Rhodes relieved Franks to record the final out. Colby Sneed led the Indians with a double and a single at the plate with 2 RBIs. Rhodes and Tanner Russell each had a double. Hunter Waites had a pair of singles. Brick Pugh and Witt Black each finished with a hit. For the Bearcats, Lance Cleveland had a double and a single.
Game 19: Cullman 13, East 0
East Limestone (10-9, 1-2) dropped the second game of the doubleheader to Cullman 13-0. Keegan Thompson threw 5 shutout innings striking out 13 and surrendering only 1 infield hit to the Indians' Cameron Ashmore. The Bearcats pounded out 14 hits to win the area tiebreaker.
Game 20: Madison Co. 6, East 4
Madison County defeated East Limestone 6-4 in the first game of a doubleheader Friday night at East. Colby Sneed had a pair of doubles and a single to lead the Indians (10-10) at the plate. Cameron Ashmore, Seth Fowler, and Ben Rhodes each had a hit. Zach Jones had a home run and a single for the Tigers. Will Lewis had 3 singles. Riley Griffin got the victory for the Tigers striking out 3 in a complete game.
Game 21: Madison Co. 12, East 5
East Limestone (10-11) fell in the second game of the doubleheader 12-5. Cameron Ashmore had a home run and a double. Andrew Gilewicz had three hits. Chase Long had a pair of singles. Hunter Waites and Cal Sandlin each had a double.
Game 22: Ardmore 5, East 1
Ardmore defeated East Limestone 5-1 Thursday. Ardmore scored three runs in the first inning on the way to a complete game by Cody Elliott. He gave up 3 hits while striking out 2. Hunter Waites had two of the Indians (10-12) three hits with a double and a single. Brick Pugh had the other hit to drive in Waites with a single. Eric Haney had a pair of hits for Ardmore.
Game 23: Lincoln Co., TN 4, East 3
East Limestone fell to Lincoln County 4-3 on Saturday. The game was tied 3-3 going into the seventh inning when Lincoln County scored the go ahead run. East loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh, but was unable to get a run across. Cameron Ashmore had a double and a single for the Indians. Tanner Russell had a pair of hits. Hunter Waites, Mark Boersma, and Colby Sneed each had a hit for the Indians (10-13).
Game 24: East 4, Hartselle 3 (8)
East Limestone defeated Hartselle 4-3 in the opener on Tuesday at East Limestone. Hartselle's Jackson Smith and East's Tanner Russell kept the hitters at bay for most of the first few innings. The game was 1-1 after five innings. East Limestone added two runs in the sixth inning followed by Hartselle scoring two runs in the top of the seventh to send the game into extra innings. Ben Rhodes hit a walk off home run in the eighth inning to give East Limestone the victory. Cameron Ashmore had a double for the Indians (11-13, 2-2). Ben Rhodes, Mark Boersma, and Colby Sneed each had a single for the Indians. Russell threw 6 and a third innings for the Indians striking out 6 and giving up 3 runs. For Hartselle, Brett Blackwood had a home run and a single. Deacon Aldridge had a pair of doubles. Jackson Smith struck out 7 giving up 3 hits thru 6 innings.
Game 25: Hartselle 10, East 1
East Limestone (11-14) fell in the second game of the doubleheader 10-1. Mark Boersma had East Limestone's run sole hit with a solo home run. Chris Brown had a home run and single for Hartselle. Brady Wallace struck out 7 thru six innings of work. Both teams resume area play tomorrow at Hartselle.
Game 26: Hartselle 3, East 2
Hartselle defeated East Limestone 3-2 on a rain soaked field to even the area series at 1 game apiece. Hartselle scored a run in the first inning when Brett Blackwell singled to centerfield scoring Deacon Aldridge. Hartselle added another run in the fourth when Aldridge singled driving in Tyler Phillips. East Limestone got on the board in the sixth inning. Singles by Seth Fowler and Mark Boersma set the Indians up with runners in scoring position. Colby Sneed drove in both runners with a single to centerfield. The Indians loaded the bases in the top of the seventh inning with singles by Matthew Franks and Cameron Ashmore, but were unable to get a run across to take the lead. Hartselle loaded the bases on walks and an error in the bottom of the seventh inning as Phillips walked to end the game. Despite the field conditions, both pitchers threw well into the later innings. Dakota Fowler allowed two runs over seven innings while striking out five and giving up six hits. The Indians' Matthew Franks struck out 5 while giving up 3 hits before coming out with 1 out in the seventh inning. The tie breaker game was postponed due to wet field conditions.
Game 27: West Point 6, East 4
Clinging to a 4-2 lead, East Limestone surrendered 4 runs in the sixth inning to drop a 6-4 decision to West Point in the first game of an area doubleheader Tuesday at West Point.  Ben Rhodes, Cal Sandlin, and Hunter Waites each had a double for the Indians (11-16, 2-3).  Cam Ashmore added a single.  Tate Duckett, Dalton Looney, and Wesley Smith each had a hit for the Warriors.  Wesley Waters got the win for the Warriors striking out 9 through 7 innings.
Game 28: East 14, West Point 4
East Limestone (12-16, 2-3) came back in the night cap with 13 hits to defeat West Point 14-4 in 6 innings. Cameron Ashmore had a pair of doubles and a single. Ben Rhodes had a double and a single. Colby Sneed finished with a pair of singles. Seth Fowler, Andrew Gilewicz, Cal Sandlin, Jacob Clemmons, Hunter Waites, and Brick Pugh each had a hit. Cameron Brock had 3 hits for the Warriors. Wesley Waters had a pair of hits. Both teams continue area play tomorrow at East at 4PM.
Game 29: East 12, West Point 2
East Limestone (13-16, 3-3) pounded out 16 hits Wednesday afternoon to defeat West Point in a 5A, Area 15 game at East. Matthew Franks was in control through out the game on the mound for the Indians striking out 5 and allowing 6 hits. Ben Rhodes, Cal Sandlin, and Hunter Waites led the hitting attack for the Indians with 3 hits apiece while driving in 8 runs. Seth Fowler and Brick Pugh each had a pair singles.
Game 30: West Point 16, East 12
East Limestone (13-17, 3-3) fell to West Point in the second game of the doubleheader 16-12. West Point jumped out to an early 10-3 lead that East was not able to overcome. Seth Fowler led the Indians at the plate with 3 RBIs on a double and two singles. Mark Boersma had a home run and a single. Cameron Ashmore, Hunter Waites, and Brick Pugh each had a pair of hits. East plays Hartselle Friday at Hartselle to determine the runner up for 5A, Area 15.
Game 31: Hartselle 12, East 2
Hartselle defeated East Limestone 12-2 Friday at Hartselle to claim the runner-up spot in 5A, Area 15. East Limestone (13-18, 3-3) struck early scoring two runs in the first inning. After a single by Seth Fowler and a double by Ben Rhodes, Cal Sandlin lined a two out single into right field to score both runners. East threatened again in the third inning after singles by Rhodes and Mark Boersma, but both runners were left stranded. From there it was all Hartselle as they pounded out 17 hits and scored 11 runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings. East concludes their season tomorrow with a doubleheader at home against Decatur.
Game 32: Decatur 10, East 3
East Limestone (13-19, 3-3) lost the first game of a doubleheader Saturday at East to Decatur 10-3. Playing in their last game as Indians, seniors Cameron Ashmore, Seth Fowler, Mark Boersma, Tanner Russell, Colby Sneed, Matthew Franks, and Jacob Clemmons were recognized before the game. Ashmore and Boersma had the only hits in the game for the Indians.
Game 33: Decatur 3, East 1
East Limestone (13-20, 3-3) closed out the season Saturday in the second game losing to Decatur 3-1. Ben Rhodes had the only hit for the Indians in a close contest.
