Indians (4-0) defeated the Ardmore Tigers 16-8 in the East Limestone
Preseason Tournament. In the first inning, Jared Laxson homered followed by
a two run shot by Cade Medley. The Indians added four runs in the second
inning. In the third Brett Mansfield hit a solo shot adding to the Indian
run total. East scored three runs in the fourth including a Daniel Tucker
homer and three runs in the fifth. The Indians scored one run the the
seventh. Cade Medley led the Indian attack with a home run, double and
single. Nathan Dumont (2-0) was the winning pitcher going 2 2/3 giving up
seven runs. Nathan Glaze appeared in relief going 4 1/3 allowing only one
run and three hits while striking out three. |

East Limestone
Indians (5-0) defeated the Elkmont Red Devils 23-11 in game five of the East
Limestone
Preseason Tournament.
The Indians scored eight runs in the first. East scored four runs in the
second, six runs in the third and two runs in the fourth. The scoring was
capped off by a three run homer by Dumont in the fifth to end the game. It
was Dumont’s second home run of the game. Cade Medley and Daniel Tucker also
homered. Tristenne Turnbough was the starting pitcher for the Indians. A.J.
Floyd entered in relief and became the winning pitcher for the Indians.

East Limestone met the
Athens Golden Eagles in the Championship Game of the East Limestone
Preseason tournament. The Eagles got the early lead by plating 5 runs in the
first and adding another in the second. The East Indians got on the board
with a home run by Nathan Dumont in the bottom of the second. East tightened
the game in the third when Jack Cruse led off the inning with a triple. The
next batter Jared Laxson drove Cruse in. Cade Medley reached on error.
Daniel Tucker batted in Laxson and Dumont singled scoring Medley. East
scored 1 run in the seventh when Daniel Tucker scored on a Seth Hughes
single. East entered the bottom half of the seventh trailing by 3 runs.
Laxson lead off the inning with a walk. Medley reached again on error,
moving Laxson to second. Tucker singled scoring Laxson. Dumont then doubled
and drove in 2 more runs tying up the score. East failed to score any
additional runs so the game entered extra innings. In the eighth, Athens
went ahead by 2 runs on the home run by Chandler Brock. East entered the
bottom half of the inning trailing once again. Laxson and Medley walked.
Tucker hit a triple, plating two. Dumont and Corey Dunn were intentionally
walked to load the bases. Seth Hughes hit a single to right field scoring
Tucker and winning the game. East Limestone improved their record to 6-0 on
the season. Cade Medley was the starting pitcher for the Indians but left
after six innings with no decision. Nathan Dumont pitched in relief and was
the winning pitcher. |

The East Limestone Indians (6-1) travelled to Hazel Green to face the Trojans Tuesday night. After missing several game days due to bad weather, the Indians had trouble getting the bats going and lost 3 to 2. The Indians finally got on the board in the sixth inning when Jared Laxson and Tristenne Turnbough singled back to back to start the inning. Daniel Tucker sacrificed to move the runners into scoring position. Nathan Dumont singled driving in Laxson. Turnbough then scored on a double steal with Dumont. Cade Medley also added a single. Cade Medley took the loss for the Indians allowing 7 hits, 3 runs while striking out 6.

The East Limestone Indians travelled Friday
night to face the Buckhorn Bucks. The Indians fell behind early but managed
to tie the score at 6 all after two innings backed by key hits from Corey
Dunn and Daniel Tucker. East exploded for 9 runs in the third frame to go
ahead 15 to 6. In the third the Indians delivered 8 hits including hits by
Jared Laxson, Brett Mansfield, Cade Medley, Nathan Dumont and doubles by
Dunn, Jack Cruse and Tucker. The scoring for the inning was capped off by a
2 run homer by Seth Hughes. The Indians added 4 more runs in the seventh on
hits by Dunn, Hughes and Laxson. The Bucks scored several runs late to make
the ending score East Limestone 19 Buckhorn 15. The Indians’ record improved
to 7 – 1 on the season.

tie the score at two apiece. The Indians scores came off a Nathan Dumont
solo homerun and a single by Seth Hughes driving in Corey Dunn. East
threatened again in the 6th when Hughes and Chad Silcox recorded singles but
failed to plate a run. The Indian pitchers tired and allowed Decatur to

County Tigers Thursday afternoon. The Indians were victorious beating the
Tigers 11 to 1. The Indians got on the scoreboard early plating six runs in
the 1st inning with Laxson, Mansfield, Tucker, Dumont, Dunn and Hughes
scoring. East added 3 more scores in the 4th inning when Laxson, Mansfield
and Medley scored. The Tigers got on the scoreboard in the 5th by plating a
single run. The game ended in the 6th inning when Medley hit a two run
homer. Cade Medley was the winning pitcher for the Indians pitching the

The East Limestone Indians played the Pleasant Grove Spartans in their first game of the Nike Classic Spring Break Tournament at the Gulf. East played Pleasant Grove at Foley High School. Pleasant Grove got on the scoreboard first by scoring one run in the first and also adding a run in the second. The Indians rallied back to take the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Indians scored their runs when Medley reached on an error followed by Tucker and Dumont getting hits. The Spartans regained the lead in the fifth inning and the Indians were unable to generate any more runs. The final score was Pleasant Grove 8 and East Limestone 3. In their second game of the Nike Classic Tourney, East Limestone faced the Chelsea Hornets. The Indians got off to a fast start when Corey Dunn hit a homerun in the first inning. In the second inning, the Hornets pitcher loaded the bases with a hit batter and 2 walks. Jared Laxson also received a walk and Tristenne Turnbough walked home. Corey Dunn then singled driving in Mansfield and Cruse. At the end of 2 innings, East led 4 to 0. The Indians exploded for 6 runs in the fourth. Mansfield and Cruse received walks again. Laxson singled and drove in Mansfield. Dunn added another hit and scored Cruse. Cade Medley singled and drove in Laxson and Dunn. Tucker reached on a walk. The Indians faced the Northwest Rankin Cougars of Mississippi in the Nike Classic Tourney. The Indians won the contest 13 to 4. Jared Laxson doubled to lead off the first inning and scored on a sacrifice bunt by Cade Medley. The Indians added another run in the second when Nathan Dumont was driven in by a single from Seth Hughes. The scoring continued in the third when Daniel Tucker singled and was driven in later by a Dumont double. Dumont also scored in the third inning. East plated a run in the fifth when Corey Dunn was driven in by a Tucker single. NW Rankin got on the scoreboard in the sixth scoring 4 runs. The Indians responded by scoring a total of 8 more runs. For their final game of the Nike Classic the Indians played the McAdory Yellow Jackets. The Indians got off to a quick start with Jared Laxson leading off with a single followed by a Cade Medley RBI double. Medley was driven in when Nathan Dumont hit another double. In the fourth the Indians scored 3 additional runs. Dumont was issued a walk and then Tristenne Turnbough hit a bunt single. Seth Hughes then drove in Dumont. Trey Stinson hit a double to left field scoring Turnbough and Hughes. The Yellow Jackets scored 4 runs in the top half of the fifth. The Indians tacked another run on when Corey Dunn walked and was later driven home by Daniel Tucker. In the sixth inning things began to unravel for the Indians when McAdory scored three runs to take the lead. In the seventh the Yellow Jackets added 3 more runs to their total. In the final at bat East threatened but was unable to plate a run ending the game with the bases loaded. The final score was McAdory 10, East 6. Due to rainy conditions, the Indians doubleheader scheduled versus Cullman was moved to Hartselle. In the first game of the 2 game set, East played the Cullman Bearcats. The Indians got on the scoreboard first when Jared Laxson led off with a homerun. Cade Medley also delivered a solo shot in his first at bat increasing the lead to 2–0. The Bearcats plated 2 runs in the second to tie the score. East regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth when Daniel Tucker was driven in by Brett Mansfield. Cullman tied the game in the fifth and took the lead by adding 3 runs in the sixth. In the bottom of the sixth, East threatened but left the bases loaded. In the bottom of the seventh Medley hit a double followed by a homerun by Tucker bringing the Indians within a run. East mounted another rally but was unable to plate the tying run. The Indians plated a run in the first inning when Corey Dunn was issued a walk and was driven in by Daniel Tucker with an RBI single. The Generals responded by scoring a run in the bottom of the first inning. In the second Brett Mansfield and Seth Hughes singled and were on board when Jared Laxson hit a homerun. The three run homer increased the Indians lead to 4 to 1. In the bottom of the third the Generals tied the score when they added three runs. The Indian offense produced three more runs in the fifth inning. Laxson reached and later was driven in by Dunn. Cade Medley doubled and drove in Dunn. Medley scored later in the inning. The Generals plated a run to make the score East 6 Lee 5. Lee tied the game up with a solo homerun in the home half of the sixth. With the game tied at 6 apiece, the Indians broke out the bats once again. With 1 out in the seventh, East hit 3 homeruns in a row. Dunn, Medley and Dumont ripped shots to give the Indians a 4 run lead. The scoring continued with Mansfield doubling and being driven in by a Turnbough single. Turnbough then scored on a pass ball. In the final game of Area 16 play for the 2009 season, the Indians travelled to JO Johnson High. The Indians score 9 runs in the top of the first inning highlighted by homers by Jared Laxson and Cade Medley. The Indians added 2 runs in the second, 2 runs in the third and 2 runs in the fifth. The Jags added a run in the fourth and fifth to make the final score East 15 Johnson 2. Brett Mansfield took the win for the Indians and Jack Cruse appeared in relief. In the first game of the Saturday double header, the East Indians faced off against the Ardmore Tigers. The Indians tallied the first score of the game in the bottom of the second inning. Daniel Tucker reached on a Tiger fielding error and later scored on a pass ball. East added another run in the second when Cade Medley drew a walk and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Nathan Dumont. The Tigers tied the game in the top of the fourth on a 2 run homer by Kevin Shelton. East regained the lead in their half of the inning when Tristenne Turnbough hit a bunt single and was then driven in by a Corey Dunn single. The Tigers added a run in the 5th when Clint Carroll was driven in by Zach Mitchell. Two more runs were scored by the Indians in the 5th when Seth Honea hit a 2 RBI single. In the sixth, Corey Dunn hit a solo homer run for the home team. The final score was East 6, Ardmore 3. The winning pitcher was Nathan Glaze with Corey Dunn pitching in relief. It was Senior Day for the East Limestone Indians. Before the game, Nathan Dumont, Corey Dunn, Seth Hughes, Jared Laxson, Daniel Tucker and Tristenne Turnbough were recognized for the contribution and participation in the East Limestone Baseball program. In the night cap at the ball field, the Indians faced the Athens Golden Eagles. The Eagles got on the scoreboard first with Luke Mould scoring in the first inning. In the third inning the Indians tied the score when Corey Silcox singled and was later driven in by Corey Dunn. The game was knotted at 1 each until the top of the seventh inning. Kegan Ham singled and was driven in by a Clay McDonald single. In the bottom of the seventh, Tristenne Turnbough led off for East and was hit by pitch. Turnbough advanced on a sacrifice by Seth Hughes. Brett Mansfield reached on error and allowed Turnbough to tie the score. The game advanced into extra innings. East held the Eagle scoreless in the top half of the inning. Then Cade Medley drew a walk and Nathan Dumont delivered a 2 run blast over the left field wall to seal the victory for the outgoing seniors. The final score was East 4 - Athens 2. Nathan Dumont was the winning pitcher for the Indians. Cade Medley appeared in relief. Jackson Burgreen took the loss for the Eagles. ---Todd Hughes |

In the final game before the state playoffs, the East Indians faced the Bob Jones Patriots. The Patriots scored first by plating a run in the top of the second. In the home half of the inning the Indians responded with 4 runs. Daniel Tucker was hit by pitch and scored on a Tristenne Turnbough RBI double. Turnbough was driven in by Seth Hughes. Hughes scored on a Jack Cruse double and Cruse was driven in by a Jared Laxson double. Bob Jones scored a run in the third and East countered with a Nathan Dumont solo homer. East scored 3 additional runs in the 4th when Trey Stinson drew a walk and was driven in by another Laxson RBI double. Cade Medley also drew a walk and scored on a Tucker RBI single. Tucker was driven in by Turnbough. East led 8–2 heading into the last inning. Bob Jones made it interesting when Hatley hit a grand slam but the Indians held on for the victory. The final score was East 8 Bob Jones 6. Cade Medley was the winning pitcher for the Indians. Brett Mansfield, Nathan Glaze and Tristenne Turnbough appeared in relief. Corey Dunn recorded the save for East. The Indians record is now 21-9. East will host Muscle Shoals on Friday in the first round of the State Playoffs. First pitch is at 5 p.m. ---Todd Hughes |

In the first round of the AHSAA Baseball Playoffs, the East Limestone Indians faced the Muscle Shoals Trojans. In the first game of the best of three series, the Trojans batted first and took the early lead by plating a run in the 1st. In the bottom of the 1st, Cade Medley reached base after being hit by a pitch. Daniel Tucker then hit a triple driving in Medley. The Trojans added a run in the top of the 2nd. In the home half of the inning, Brett Mansfield and Tristenne Turnbough had hits and scored on a Seth Honea 2RBI single. The Indians got the offense in high gear in the 3rd inning. Medley led off the inning with a single and was followed by a Tucker RBI single. Nathan Dumont was hit by a pitch and Brett Mansfield reached on an error followed by a Turnbough single. With the bases loaded, Seth Hughes and Seth Honea each had RBI singles. After three innings, East led 9–2. The Trojans responded with 4 runs in the 4th, 1 run in the 5th and 2 runs in the 6th, which made the score 9–9. In the top of the 7th, Muscle Shoals was able to push another run across grabbing the lead at 10–9. In the bottom of the 7th, Turnbough led off the inning with a double. Hughes followed with a RBI bunt single that scored Turnbough and tied the score. On a throwing error, Hughes advanced to third. Jared Laxson then delivered a walk off RBI single that won the game for the Indians, 11 to 10. Nathan Dumont was the starting pitcher for East and pitched a strong 6 1/3 innings. In the second game of the East Limestone versus Muscle Shoals series, the Trojans were the home team. Muscle Shoals got off to a fast start scoring 2 in the first and grabbing the early lead over the Indians. East finally got base runners in the 4th inning when Jared Laxson and Corey Dunn drew back to back walks. Cade Medley then responded with a 3 run homer to put the Indians in the lead. Daniel Tucker was hit by pitch and later scored on a pass ball adding to the Indian lead. Medley hit another homerun in the 6th. Nathan Dumont also hit a homer in the same inning, increasing the lead to 6–2. After allowing 3 hits in the first inning, the starting pitcher, Cade Medley buckled down and went the rest of the way allowing only 1 more hit. The final score was East 6 Muscle Shoals 2. With the victory, East advances to the second round of the playoffs. The Indians will face the Hartselle Tigers at home next Friday night. The record for the Indians is now 23-9. ---Todd Hughes |

In the second round of the Class 5A state baseball playoffs, the East Limestone Indians hosted the Hartselle Tigers. The Tigers got on the scoreboard first plating 2 runs in the top of the second inning and added another run in the third. The Indians scored a run in the fourth when Cade Medley drew a walk, advanced on a pass ball and then scored on a Brett Mansfield RBI single. The Tiger offense exploded in the 5th and added 5 runs to their total. The Indians attempted to mount a rally in the home half of the 5th with Jared Laxson hitting a 2 run homer. Hartselle continued to apply pressure and were able to add 2 runs in the 6th and 3 runs in the 7th. The final score was East 3 Hartselle 13. Seth Hughes and Seth Honea each recorded hits during the game. Cade Medley took the loss for the Indians. Nathan Glaze appeared in relief. ---Todd Hughes |

Facing elimination, the Indians got the opportunity to bat first against the Tigers. Hartselle sent their ace Chad Girodo to the mound to face East and the Indians countered with Nathan Dumont. The Tigers struck first in this game also when Ryan Joy lead off with a homer. East had base runners in the first 4 innings but were unable to score. The Indians got on the board in the 6th when Daniel Tucker led the inning off with a single and advanced to third on an error on Nathan Dumont ball. Tucker scored when Seth Hughes hit his second single of the night. The Indian depleted bullpen could not hold up against the Tigers and gave up 1 run in the 5th and 5 runs in the 6th. The Indians lost by a score of 11–1. Dumont took the loss for East. Girodo pitched the complete game for the Tigers. The Indians ended the season with a 23–11 record. ---Todd Hughes |
